Intraoral Camera

Correct patient diagnosis and treatment is the most important function of an effective, state-of-the-art dental practice. The intraoral camera is the latest in a long line of technologically advanced equipment that has been introduced to the dental field in recent years. It delivers incredibly sharp, clear images that enhance our ability to properly diagnose and treat patients.

The innovative imaging software that accompanies the intraoral camera is perfect for viewing the nooks and crannies missed by X-rays. While the camera snaps crystal-clear images throughout the mouth, the software allows the doctors to manipulate the image to see different angles and zoom in on an otherwise static image. The camera also takes videos that can be streamed to a bedside monitor. Patients are able to view their procedure in real-time. Thanks to this innovative technology, Dr. Christopher Emuedue able to clearly explain what the problem is and how they can best treat it together.

When our team utilizes the intraoral camera, they are able to reach places that an X-ray cannot. While X-rays are extremely effective for locating cavities and decay, the intraoral camera lets us see things we’d never be able to see. Although a traditional visual inspection of the teeth may have sufficed in the past, technology has made it possible for dentists and patients to reap many more benefits from each health exam.

Bone Grafting

Dental implants are an excellent option to replace a missing tooth. In some cases, before you can have an implant, you may need to have bone grafting surgery. At Greenville Family Dentistry, we offer our patients the latest advances in bone grafting.

Bone grafting may be needed in order to build up the jawbone before an implant is placed. There are two types of bone grafting surgery, which may be performed depending on the extent of grafting needed. For example, in some cases, large changes to the dental ridge may be needed. In other instances, bone grafting may be needed to ensure there is enough bone to cover the sides of the implant.

In many cases, bone fragments are taken from another area of the body and transplanted onto the existing jawbone. Bone from a tissue bank or mineral bone substitutes can also be used. Bone grafting makes the jawbone better able to support an implant, which increases the success of the procedure.

At Greenville Family Dentistry, we offer preventive, restorative and cosmetic dental services for your entire family. We strive to provide you with the best possible dental care and the most advanced technology.

For more information on bone grafting, or in order to schedule an appointment, please call our office at (903) 455-6701.

Root Canals

When patients are informed that they need a root canal procedure, they often become very fearful and do not want to undergo the procedure. The misconception that root canals are painful, cause illness or will cause further damage to their teeth is decades old and holds no truth. Science has come a long way since the first root canal procedure occurred in the 1700’s. At Greenville Family Dentistry, we offer pain-free root canal procedures.

The whole point of a root canal procedure is to alleviate pain, not cause more. Root canals are performed by removing the pulp of the tooth that has become inflamed, infected or dead. The pulp is a soft substance that is in the center of the tooth, it consists of nerves, blood vessels and connective tissue. The most common causes of pulp damage are cracked tooth, deep cavity and an injury to a tooth. Dr. Emuedue this procedure to save a tooth that is badly decayed and would otherwise be extracted.

After your root canal, the tooth continues to function like any other tooth. People also think that a root canal procedure is an invasive procedure that takes hours to complete. Modern root canal procedures are often compared to having a routine filling and can be completed in just one visit.

If you have any questions about this procedure, feel free to ask Dr. Emuedue during your consultation.

Lumineers

Lumineers are an ultra-thin type of veneers that help improve your smile by covering imperfections of your teeth. There are many reasons our patients here at Greenville Family Dentistry choose Lumineers, including covering staining or discoloration, to eliminate gaps and spaces, to correct misalignment of teeth, and to reshape teeth that are misshapen.

The Lumineers are made from very thin pieces of porcelain that are bonded securely to the teeth. The quality and end result is the same as veneers, except there is better comfort among patients choosing Lumineers from our dentist Dr. Emuedue. As a thinner version of veneers, they provide patients with many benefits.

Traditional veneers require reshaping and filing down of the natural tooth prior to fitting on the veneer. With Lumineers, less preparation work needs to be done to the teeth because they are much thinner. Patients benefit by losing less of their natural teeth, completing the procedure in less time, and paying less for the cosmetic treatment. Here at Greenville Family Dentistry, we offer Lumineers as a great option for restoring your smile.

Rotary Endodontics

If you’ve had a root canal performed to save an infected tooth, it probably didn’t occur to you to ask what type of tools your dentist was using. However, if your dentist used the old, manual method of removing infection, the procedure may have been nerve racking. That’s why our team here at Greenville Family Dentistry uses rotary endodontics technology for root canals.

Proving a smoother, more comfortable experience during root canals, rotary endodontics technology allows Dr. Emuedue to remove the infected pulp in the inner root canal more quickly, more smoothly and with less chance of complications. Rotary endodontics utilizes electric instruments, rather than the traditional, stainless steel files. The electric hand tool is made of nickel titanium and is much more flexible than stainless steel, which means that it can be inserted into the curved root canal without damaging the passageway.

We prefer to use rotary endodontics at our practice because it is smoother, more consistent and quicker than the traditional method. In addition, the tools are much quieter, without the grinding noise that other tools produce, which will help to put you at ease during the procedure. This is why both our patients and we prefer this technology. While the manual method works adequately at saving teeth during root canals, rotary endodontics tools are much less scary and easier to use.

Gum Disease

Caring for your teeth is an essential part of maintaining good oral health, but your gums also play an important role in your health, and proper care is crucial. Gum disease can be a serious detriment to your oral health and overall wellness. Our team here at Greenville Family Dentistry provides the type of regular periodontal care and checkups you need to maintain peak health and prevent gum disease.

With periodontal disease responsible for 75 percent of all adult tooth loss cases in the United States, it is critical to check for and treat periodontal issues when they first arise. Periodontal disease is an infection of the gums that starts when a build-up of plaque on your teeth hardens, providing the ideal environment for bacteria to collect and attack surrounding gums. In its early stages, this gum disease is gingivitis, but if it is left untreated, it becomes periodontitis. Periodontitis can destroy your gum tissue and lead to tooth loss. Periodontitis can even result in a loss of bone mass in your jawbone, and heart disease, diabetes and stroke have also been linked to poor periodontal health.

The state of your gums affects the health of your entire body, so come to our office in Greenville, TX to receive periodontal cleanings and treatment. It is easier to prevent gum disease or treat it early on than to reverse the effects of periodontitis. For more information about gum disease, please call Greenville Family Dentistry at 903-455-6701.

Oral Cancer Screenings

Are you due for your oral cancer screening? If you’re over fifty, use tobacco products and have a family member who’s been diagnosed, you are probably due for an oral cancer screening.  Even if you have a clean bill of health, older adults should make oral cancer screenings a regular part of their yearly health exams.

Oral cancer can have a devastating effect, but if it’s caught in its earliest stages, chances of full recovery are significantly improved. We use a variety of comprehensive and advanced technology that gives us full insight into your oral health, and that includes detection of any abnormalities or problem areas that could easily go undetected.

If you’re not sure whether or not you’re due for an oral cancer screening or if you’re an adult who’s never had one, it’s better to yield on the side of caution. We look forward to your visit for a comprehensive exam and giving you the peace of mind and information you need to protect and preserve your health. Visit our website, www.greenvillefamilydentistrytx.com for more information or call (903) 455-6701 to schedule an appointment with Dr. Emuedue.
